Other Domestic services - Loading Analysis
If you are thinking of having an EV charger installed, it is advisable to get a loading analysis completed first. The results of the analysis which determines factors such as the maximum capacity can affect which EV charger you can have installed at your property.
What is loading analysis?
As EV charging units can be a powerful addition to your property, the electrical consumption can be quite significant, so it’s essential to determine the maximum capacity of your current electrical supply, as well as the capacity for expansion of this supply. Loading analysis determines the capacity.
What is the usual supply in amps?
Most domestic electrical installations into dwellings have a supply of either 60/100 amps maximum, this is determined by the size of the cable into the property from the street and the size of the main cut out fuse, usually a BS1361.
Why do I need loading analysis?
Loading to dwellings can increase to nearly maximum if electric showers and ovens are being used in addition to general items with standard socket outlets. Therefore, an additional 32 amp car charger may not be possible without an up grade in supply from the distribution network operator (DNO). This makes loading analysis a very important part of our service.
